Accountants and Financial Services CSEP for Ireland

Accountants and Financial Services CSEP for Ireland

At Actus, we understand the challenges that accountants and financial services professionals face when it comes to securing permits. The financial services industry is inherently global, leading to a growing need for global shared services centers. As the fields of accounting and finance continue to evolve, new roles have emerged in areas like funds, fintech, and risk management. To help clarify these requirements, we’ve outlined the job titles in accounting and finance that qualify for a Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) in Ireland.

What Qualifications Do Accountants Need for a Permit?

For chartered and certified accountants, as well as taxation experts, registration with or full recognition by one of the following Irish accountancy accreditation bodies is required:

  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Association of International Accountants (AIA)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)
  • Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)
  • Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants (IIPA)

Are There Any Exemptions to This Rule?

Yes, there are exemptions. Qualified accountants who have at least three years of auditing experience and are full members of the following associations may also qualify:

  • American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
  • Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP)

In addition to membership, these candidates must have experience in US GAAP reporting, and the role they are applying for must be in Global Audit and Advisory Services within a multinational corporation (MNC) specializing in global audit services.
