Ireland adds the US, Canada, France, and Italy to its mandatory hotel quarantine list.

The Irish government has extended the list of designated countries from which or through which travelers are required to undertake mandatory hotel quarantine on arrival in Ireland. Significantly the US, Canada, Italy, and France have been added.

The measures will take effect from 4AM Thursday 15^th April. The state broadcaster RTE has indicated that Albania, Israel and Saint Lucia shall be removed from the quarantine list although the published list at https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/b4020-travelling-to-ireland-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/#designated-states-mandatory-hotel-quarantine continues to include them [consulted 10/04/21].

UPDATE 12/04/21: Israel, Albania and St Lucia removed from mandatory quarantine list. People who have arrived from those countries in recent days can leave their hotels and quarantine at home.. However if they have transited any state that remains or has been added to this list still requires to quarantine at designated facilities.

The Government plans to double the hotel capacity to deal with hotel quarantining from 654 hotel rooms currently, to over 1,100 rooms in the coming weeks.
